VITA
Each year, we partner with the Gateway EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) Community Coalition for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
The Gateway EITC Community Coalition provides FREE federal and state tax preparation services for individuals and families earning under $64,000. The VITA program serves low to moderate income families and individuals, seniors, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need tax preparation assistance.
You will complete a training course before volunteering. It's a great way to give back to the community, and make people financially better off by helping them receive their refund from the IRS!
Our chapter has received Superior designation from the IRS for our strong participation in the VITA program in 2022 and 2023!
Both undergraduate and graduate students can volunteer, and you need not be a candidate or member of Beta Alpha Psi!
You can receive course credit by enrolling in ACCT 300A (undergraduate) or ACCT 5675 (graduate).
See 2024 site locations and hours here. Most sites open Saturday, February 3rd, and close the week of April 8th.
Please contact our VP of Community Service, Bruce Dung (b.dung@wustl.edu), or Prof. Mark Soczek (soczek@wustl.edu) with any questions.
Note: Most sites are only open once a week for 3-4 hours.
